Not only that, but I opened docs and started typing, and I was surprised that this laptop was still speedy and smooth. It’s AMD Radeon RX 540 GPU produced 79 frames per second in my favorite game, Dirt 3. It averaged above 45 FPS for most games out there with reduced settings.
Connectivy
Acer has loaded up the Swift 2 with a USB 3.0, a USB 2.0, and a USB-C Thunderbolt three port as well as a mic/headphone jack and an HDMI port. A typical Ultrabook these days don’t have an optical drive and an SD card reader, so the same goes for this system.

- Dolby audio technology.
- 9th-generation Intel Core i5 CPU.
- 9 hours battery backup.
Design and Display
Simplicity in the overall design is the best part of this laptop due to its sleek and subdued design. The body of this laptop is mostly made of plastic. But at no point, it felt cheap. The keyboard in this laptop provides precise pressure points and short travel. Besides having a full-fledged numeric pad, it also has a monochrome keyboard backlighting that glows in two colors. The settings can be changed by using the software on the laptop.
The full HD screen is my minimum requirement from budget gaming laptops these days, and the Lenovo L340 fulfills my need. It has a 15.6inch IPS HD screen. The IPS panel gives the best viewing colors and angles.
CPU and GPU
The L340 has Nvidia GTX 1650 GPU. The GTX 1650 won’t catch much attention, but surprisingly it does have the ability to run games like CS: GO and Fortnite while hitting 90+ FPS.
Supporting the GPU is the 9th generation Intel Core i5. It is a reliable processor that promises performance for FHD games. Meanwhile, substantial performance and video editing will be slow. However, the i5 is still enough for multitasking, which includes viewing streams/discord and switching between games all at once.
Storage and RAM
The fast 512GB NVMe SSD will quickly get you into the game, and provide faster loading times and boot times. Game downloads are covering plenty of space each day, which is why this laptop has 512GB storage, which is quite a decent size. You’ll be golden if you get an external HDD for running games.
The 8GB of DDR4 ram is good, but I believe that 16GB is preferable. However, this laptop has only one RAM slot, so if you want to upgrade the 8GB to 16GB, you will have to get rid of 8GB to make space for a 16 GB RAM stick.
Connectivity and Features
The IdeaPad gaming laptop has all the necessary ports present on the left side of the laptop. It does not have a memory card reader nor a thunderbolt port. It has a USB Type-C port, but you can’t use it to charge the laptop.
The laptop has Dolby audio technology for audio to give the users an extraordinary audio experience. The technology brings out the clear, crisp sound without that horrible echoing audio, which usually comes from laptops of this price range.
The trackpad on this laptop is good for nothing. Intense pressure must be applied to the bottom corners of the trackpad to make the mouse buttons work. Moreover, the surface is quite resistant to the fingers, which makes navigation difficult.
This laptop comes under the category of the best gaming laptop under $900. Besides that, it has “decent” everything; Graphics card, CPU, 512 SSD, 8GB RAM, and IPS display for a great gaming session.
- Decent gaming performance at this range.

The laptops in this era tend to look like a spaceship, but ASUS has chosen a classic design for this laptop. With a red ASUS logo on the lid and a red keyboard backlight. It has a plastic chassis which doesn’t feel cheap at all. The keyboard has a classic gamer red backlighting, and the highlighted WASD is quite helpful for the gamers. The trackpad is good for most basic tasks, but it is recommended to get a mouse with it.
The laptop has a 17inch IPS display with 60Hz refresh rate and 1920 × 1080 resolution. The screen has an anti-glare finish and great viewing angles.
CPU and GPU
Powering the machine is an AMD Ryzen 5 twinned with an AMD Radeon RX 560X. Both of these elements are good for beginners. The performance is also good for beginners but not recommended for pro gamers. The fans of this laptop are not loud or annoying and at no point GPU or CPU throttle.
Storage and RAM
Packed with 8GB RAM and a 512GB PCIe SSD, this laptop handled almost everything I threw at it. Not only for once, this laptop stutters. I had 20 chrome tabs opened, and 5 of them were playing videos on 1080p. Moreover, a game was downloading in the back while I was web browsing.
Connectivity and Features

It comes with Desktop Grade AMD FreeSync technology, it works surprisingly well to eliminate ghosting in games.
Everything was going smoothly until I realized that the CPU is always working at 100%, which means that the CPU is a bottleneck on this laptop.
This laptop guarantees extreme performance while remaining within budget. It houses decent gaming capabilities; it can handle most games out there with tinkered settings.

- 512 GB m.2 SSD and 8GB DDR4 RAM.
- Cooler Boost 3 Technology for airflow.
- Thin and Classy Design.
Design and Display
The laptop is moderately thin and lightweight. The combination of aluminum and plastic body is not appealing, but the purpose of the lid is well served. The keyboard is spaced well, and you don’t have to throw your muscle power to write a single sentence. The surface of each key is large, which is less prone to typos.
On the other hand, RGB lovers might be disappointed with only one backlit option. i.e.: red. The trackpad is just like any other gaming laptop, usable but not great. Windows precision touchpad drivers give the finger gesture and tracking register without any issue.
Open the lid, and you will find out the 15.6 full HD display surrounded by narrow side bezels. Due to the conventional design, the webcam and microphone are placed on top. The display has sharp and bright colors with a refresh rate of 144Hz.
CPU and GPU
The gaming performance on this laptop is quite decent. It is equipped with intel core i7-9750H accompanied by Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660. Everything is paired up nicely without leading any huge bottlenecking to each other.
GTX 1660 runs most games capped at 60 FPS with ease, however, you might have to lower some settings in games to put less strain on the aging GPU.
Storage and RAM
The laptop is preoccupied with the Kingston 512GB NVMe SSD. Meanwhile, the RAM is a factory installed with 8GB. The gaming was smooth on this laptop; however, don’t expect to do intensive gaming on this laptop. However, while gaming, I also pulled Netflix, disney+ and Spotify, and MSI GF65 handled everything well.
Connectivity and Features
The main ports are mostly on the right side. The ports on the right include; 2x USB Type-A, 2x USB Type-C, Gigabit Ethernet, 3.5mm combo jack. The left side has an HDMI and a barrel charging port.
It incorporates MSI’s CoolerBoost technology to maintain efficient airflow. I never had any issues with it overheating at all.
The laptop is fitted with GTX 1660 since it is more demanding. Due to the upgraded GPU, MSI has improved the cooling system to turn the heat down. However, the noise of the fans is always present no matter what you are doing on this laptop, which is quite annoying.
The Laptop weighs only 1.86kg packed only with authentic features and performance. While there are many better options on the market, this laptop still comes under the category of best gaming laptops under $1000.
- Quick 120 Hz refresh rate.
- full-size arrow keys.

The design of this laptop is all plastic except the aluminum lid. Even though it looks sturdier, it is durable as compared to other options. There is nothing special about the design that rings bells.
However, the keyboard is quite decent, with an ample amount of spacing and a full-sized keyboard. The WASD keys have a white paint job to make them visible. The keys have only one RGB backlighting.
The trackpad on this system has windows precision drivers. Fingers glide smoothly on this laptop due to the matte surface. You can even play FPS games using the trackpad, but you will need an external mouse for a competitive gaming session.
The display of this laptop is 15.6 full HD IPS with a 144Hz refresh rate. The screen has excellent viewing angles and can be adjusted fairly easily without much work. You can watch movies, play games, and edit your stuff on this screen easily.
CPU and GPU
It features a 9th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU, which is really efficient at conserving battery power and remains cool most of the time. It is paired with NVIDIA GTX 1650 4GB, together they perform really well, and I never faced any bottleneck with it.
Games like Fortnite and CS: Go can reach 120+FPS easily on max settings. However, newer titles might suffer a bit.
Storage and RAM
It has plenty of storage and features 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD and 8GB DDR4 RAM. Both of them can be upgraded easily, allowing the laptop to become future proof.
Connectivity and Features
Keep in mind that if you are someone who needs plenty of ports, then this laptop is not for you. All the ports on this laptop are present on the left side; an HDMI port, 1 USB 2.0 Type-A, 2 USB 3.2 Gen-1 type-1, one combo audio jack, 1 RJ-45 port.
Anti-Dust technology works really well in keeping dust out of the vents; most laptop owners complain about dust clogging in their cooling vents; however, that won’t be an issue with this laptop.
The placement of arrow keys is quite questionable on this laptop. The top arrow key hangs on the lowermost section of the keyboard while other arrow keys are lower. You can easily hit the 0 or Ctrl key because of the placement of arrows.

Budget Gaming Laptop
Buyers Guide
Finding the best budget gaming laptop sounds like an easy task, but it is not.
There are a lot of things you must consider before buying a gaming laptop. To make a well-informed decision below is a simple guide that will help you find the best budget gaming laptop.

GPU
The graphics processing unit, also known as GPU, is the most crucial element that differentiates between non-gaming and gaming laptops. This piece of technology decides the performance of your gaming laptop while gaming. If you are into multiplayer and action games, then you cannot compromise in the GPU. GPU is responsible for supplying the graphics and power for modern gaming.
Most gaming laptops have a dedicated GPU, that is enough to handle most esports titles like Fortnite and CS: GO.
CPU
The CPU is the heart of the laptop. Many Laptop manufacturers fit in the low processor to extend the battery life, which is why desktop computers have the best processors.
I recommend buying the latest AMD or Intel and don’t go for anything older than Intel 8th Gen Core or AMD 2nd Gen Ryzen.
Display
The games are all about the visual experience. Most budget gaming laptops don’t come equipped with 4K or OLED screens. You’ll be lucky if your panel supports 120Hz refresh rates. That is why the minimum resolution should be 1080p.
15 to 17 inches is the ideal display size for a gaming laptop, but you can also go for 14 or 18-inch options. Keep this in mind that the bigger screen means extra weight.
Storage and RAM
Most modern gaming laptops have shifted towards SSD drives in order to maximize performance. 256GB and 512GB SSD drives in laptops are common; however, if you’re looking to boost productivity and store more games, then search for the laptop that has an empty M.2 or SATA slot.
For RAM, the bare minimum should be 8GB, anything below that can hinder your system’s performance by miles.
Gaming Peripherals
A gaming laptop can’t deliver the best experience out of the box.
There are many gaming peripherals that can be attached to your gaming laptop to enhance the experience. Some of them are covered below.

Gaming Mouse
The trackpad isn’t the way games are played; you always need a dedicated gaming mouse to make sure you’re the best in your league. Logitech G703 offers exceptional tracking when it comes to games like Fortnite, PUBG, and CS: GO.

Gaming Mouse Pad
Some laptops have dedicated technologies to help with the airflow, but let’s just accept it, most of them don’t work well. Getting a cooling pad is an ideal way to prolong your laptop’s lifespan and save the CPU from throttling. Tree New Bee is one good laptop cooling pad; it offers four 120mm fans that run silently and improve the air circulation for your laptop.

Laptop Cooling Pad
Never found a way to cope with the heat produced by your laptop in intensive gaming sessions?
Worry no more, mate, as I am here to put an end to your miseries. The TopMate C5 12 laptop cooling pad has 5 fans, which significantly reduces the amount of heat produced by your laptop.
Four of them are on the outside and the central large fan is the one with super-strong wind abilities — the main character in downplaying the heat.

Gaming Headset
Be it PC or Laptop; the immersive audio experience is craved by gamers of all genres.
Say Goodbye to poor quality and soulless sound offered by your laptop speakers, HyperX Cloud Alpha S can deliver the sound experience you always wanted. It’s really comfortable and enhances your gaming experience by tenfolds.

Gaming Keyboard
The keyboards featured on budget gaming laptops aren’t well suited for long gaming sessions at all. You might sprain your hand or wrist while playing. The best way to counter this issue is to invest in a dedicated gaming keyboard. Corsair K95 enhances your gaming experience and is well suited for typing as well. It offers six programmable keys and 8mb of storage for the profiles.

The best screen for a gaming laptop has to be around 15inches, anything more that can be a bonus, anything less than that can hinder your gaming experience.
