In this article, we are going to take a look at some of the best gaming laptops under $1000 that are currently available.
A gaming laptop gives you all the power and performance of a desktop with the added benefit of being able to pick up and game away from your desk.
Although, if you are in a hurry, the one we recommend is Asus TUF FX505GT!
Do you need a way to play all the best PC games on the go?
We have rated them based on their gaming performance, spec range, and the price tags they come in as to give you a good idea of what kind of value they offer. So, if you have got a moderate budget and you are looking for a reliable gaming laptop, one of the options listed below should work for you. Have a look!
Best Gaming Laptop under $1000 (Asus TUF FX505GT)
Asus TUF FX505GT has an all-plastic body, with an aluminum lid cover, and cheaper alternatives. Design-wise, it’s not quite remarkable, but what can you expect more in this price range? It has these cut corners and trapezoid cut lid, for an aggressive look.
As soon as ASUS revealed their new TUF Gaming line-up, which features both AMD and Intel-powered gaming notebooks, everyone was in awe.
The FX505GT model has an Intel Core i7 9th Gen processor. In this budget, I would say that value for money and hardware components are the only defining factors I look for, and this ASUS TUF is the king in its price range.
It is affordable, robust, and future-proof, what else one wants.
As much as gaming laptops are in trend, the Asus TUF Gaming FX505GT series offers, which you have always needed, i.e., a nice blend of features and performance while sacrificing a little bit on areas like the build quality and portability for the sake of keeping prices down. It’s not wrong to make minor compromises to make these devices attractive for users on a budget.
Speaking of budget constraints, AMD processors are usually preferred, as they offer roughly similar kind of performance as Intel CPUs at lower prices. That’s the part where the FX505GT becomes interesting. You get the same machine with an Intel Core i7 installed in the same price range as you wanted.
Asus TUF FX505GT Specifications
9th Generation i7 9750H Processor
When we talk about the performance, the ASUS TUF FX505GT-AH73 has a 9th generation Intel Core i7-9750H processor. You can find the identical specs in a much more expensive machine such as Aero 15 classic gaming laptops range.
Do you know what this “H” in 9750H processor specs?
The higher power H series (ranging from 25W to 45W) is reserved for performance-oriented mobile systems such as gaming laptops and mobile workstations.
It has a Hexa-core CPU (6 cores, 12 threads) has 12 megabytes of cache, a base frequency of 2.60 GHz. You may upgrade it to 4.50 GHz in turbo mode, and whatnot? It has a thermal design power of 45 Watts.
GTX 1650 4GB GDDR5 GPU
Considering the price and budget constraints, I believe the ASUS TUF comes with great graphics. It has NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (4 GB) video card, much better than what competitors have to offer at a similar asking price.
512GB M.2 PCIe Gen3 SSD
Asus TUF series has managed to do a lot with M.2 512GB Solid State Drive. To upgrade it, you can easily add an extra drive in its 2.5″ slot. Unscrew its bottom part and slide either an SSD or HDD in there.
8GB DDR4 (2666Mhz) RAM
The FX505GT has 8GB of DDR4 (2666MHz) RAM. For your personal and everyday use, it’s a good amount of memory, I must say.
But, as far as gaming is concerned, I will suggest you upgrade it immediately if you want to play multiple recent trending games on it. (It supports a maximum memory size of 32GB, but in my experience, 16 GB would be perfect for everyday use).
You can simply add another 8-gigabyte module in the free memory slot, and its best.
120Hz Refresh Rate
One of its standout features, as compared to other similarly priced gaming laptops like Dell G3 3590 and the Lenovo L340 Gaming, would be its amazing display. The FC505GT comes with a 120Hz display.
Do you know, it’s double the amount of range which you may get from its competitors? Gaming becomes an extraordinary experience on its 15.6″ IPS-Like FHD slim bezel display with less latency, less blur, increased sharpness, edge, and better game responsiveness.
Gigabit wave 2 WI-Fi 5 (802.11AC)
The latest Intel Wave 2 Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) boasts data transfer rates of up to an incredible 1.7Gbps. The 802.11ac standard is capable of fast speeds generally between 100 to 400 Mbps depending on your router, the client device, and the environment.
Most of the newest mobile technology built since 2015 uses 802.11ac.
An 802.11ac router allows your compatible devices to have the best Internet experience. So, most probably you won’t face any buffering while using.
Battery and Portability
Affordable gaming laptops don’t handle long trips and daily commuting as expected. The ASUS TUF FX505GT weighs around 4.9 pounds. Battery life isn’t quite impressive. It features a 3-cell, 48Whr Li-Polymer battery pack, which isn’t quite massive. It won’t be quite the right choice if you want to take it along in the traveling now and then.
Which games can this Laptop run?
We have compiled some frame rates you should get on low to ultra-high settings, at FHD resolution.
** The numbers are representing FPS (Frames Per Second) in different games under different settings.
|Red Dead Redemption 2||62||44||31||19|
|COD Modern Warfare 2019||117||71||60||52|
What restrictions may you observe? It may be the controlling features that likely be unplayable with this configuration.
IO Options in TUF FX505GT
If you like diversified interface options, then it may satisfy you to a certain extent like it has five ports, all located on the laptop’s left side. These are:
- 1 x HDMI
- 1 x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen-1 Type-A
- 1 x RJ-45
1 x Combo audio jack is fitted with a Gigabit Ethernet LAN card, 802.11ac wireless, and Bluetooth 4.2. You’ll be able to play games and stream content at the same time, but don’t expect the next-level performance like expensive laptop ranges.
Acer Predator Helios 300 – A bit above $1000
The Acer Predator Helios 300 is a mid-range gaming laptop that promises a smooth 1080p gaming experience inside an eye-catching exterior.
Above $1000 Gaming Laptop
The difference it has as compared to the previous choice and why it’s on number #2 is just because it is slightly above $1000.
It features a 144Hz gaming display along with GTX 1660 Ti 6GB. The processor is the same as the previous recommendation Intel i7-9750H.
It looks good, with a body coated with dark, matte metal. Blue pattern around the touchpad, highlight important buttons and light up the lid. Let’s explore it a bit more.
Elsewhere, the Acer has subtle angles and smart edges, with the only extravagant design to be found in the small air vents, where the metal is painted blue.
Design & Look of Acer Predator Helios 300
There are several new blue highlights in the entire design where a new color scheme is found around the trackpad, on the lid, and under a handful of keys on the keyboard.
There are a total of four lighting zones under the keyboard, with teal highlights that ever-so-slightly alter the color of the WASD keys, the arrow keys, and the Predator Sense shortcut key.
Above the F1 key is a button dedicated to the “Toggling Turbo mode“. When enabled, Turbo will overclock the system and increase the fan speed in a bid to squeeze every last bit of performance out of the system.
There are plenty of ports on the Helios 300.
On the left side, from front to back, you’ll find an audio jack, two USB 3.1 ports, an Ethernet jack, and the charging port. On the right side is a USB-C port, another USB 3.1 port, a Mini DisplayPort, and an HDMI port. The USB 3.1 port on the right side offers power-off charging, meaning you can charge your phone or tablet even if the lid of the laptop is shut and it’s not actively in use.
The Acer has a 15.6in screen with a 1080p resolution, which is fine for gaming. It’s high enough to provide crisp imagery, but without putting too much strain on the graphics core. It is a 144Hz IPS panel and a rapid 3ms response time. There’s no Nvidia G-Sync, so gaming isn’t as smooth as it could be, but it’s still very good indeed. The Acer’s panel also has a better specification than the Asus ROG Zephyrus G, which topped out at 120Hz with the worse response time.
Inside the Helios 300 is an impressive set of components, given its cost. There’s a 9th generation Intel Core i7-9750H processor, Nvidia’s GTX 1660 Ti, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB PCIe SSD.
The Acer’s keyboard has a good layout, it has a firm base and the trackpad feels a bit spongy. There’s a number pad, the cursor and Return keys are full-size, and many of the key buttons have blue highlights. The font is easily legible, and there’s a dedicated button to launch Acer’s Predator Sense app.
The typing action isn’t bad, either. The metal beneath the keyboard is stronger than that used on the wrist-rest, which means the base is firm. As such, hammering the buttons down feels more satisfying and consistent. The buttons also have a reasonable amount of travel, which helps it to feel more robust while typing.
The Helios 300’s battery lasted long enough to watch a movie, but that’s about it. When looping IGN’s test video, with the screen at 50% brightness, the Helios 300 powered through 136 minutes, or 2-hours and 16-minutes.
There’s no card reader and no Thunderbolt port either.
The trackpad on this gaming machine has built-in buttons, with a snappy action. However, a gaming mouse is a must to play games – as is the case with any gaming laptop.
Low on Budget? Dell G3 15 can be the Best Option!
Dell G3 15 Gaming packs a lot of power inside its smooth, slim interior with some pretty decent speakers to blast your favorite playlist.
Gaming Laptop Under $700
Dell’s G3 15 Gaming Laptop is one of the most affordable gaming devices having an 8th Gen Core i5 processor and Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti GPU and makes it easy to game on the go.
The best part is its long battery life, thin chassis, and loudspeakers.
However, the G3 15’s low price comes with some drawbacks, including a bland, 15.6-inch display and an unpleasant keyboard.
Unfortunately, the laptop’s dull display and low-travel keyboard hold it back.
If you’re willing to drop some extra cash, then you choose from the above-mentioned options due to having better graphics performance and some useful gaming software.
Gaming Peripherals for your Gaming Laptop
Since you are buying a laptop primarily for gaming, we thought to include the basic peripherals you need to achieve the best gaming experience.
Most of the Gaming Laptops do come with Windows 10 Installed, so you won’t be required to buy windows key separately.
It has 11 programmable buttons, a sound grip, and a quite reasonable shape; the Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum will become one of your favorite gaming mics. It is a jack-of-all-trades device that can handle any gaming genre you name. Gamers can easily add it into their devices as it only weighs 3.6-gram. You can also switch between resistant or near-frictionless movement.
The Corsair MM600 isn’t the one with the flashy color to attract you but is a versatile option for long-term use. This double-sided mouse pad stays secure in place with rubber stoppers on each corner so that your mouse moves, not your mouse pad. The body is of aluminum and having low-friction space that elevates your entire gaming experience.
Cooler Master NotePal X-Slim Cooling Pad has 160 mm sound like which may overkill but wait till you see it in action. The way it shifts the air really is something quite unique. The blades look perfectly balanced and create a unique airflow profile. With a 15-inch upper limit, you run the risk of not being able to accommodate those latest gaming laptops. But when you push things up all the way to 17-inches like these guys have then the sky’s the limit!
The SteelSeries Siberia Elite Prism headset has everything you wish for. It’s affordable, fits with everything, stylish-looking, user-friendly, and has the best sound quality. The headphones are platform-agnostic; you may use it every other device like a laptop, smartphone, Xbox, PlayStation, etc. Not only this, but it also has an equalizer which delivers an optimal sound for different types of games.
If you prefer a mechanical keyboard over your laptop’s built-in keys, you should use Razer Black Widow Chroma. And you should take a long, loving look at it. Using Razer’s Synapse software, you can map up to 16.8 million colors to the keys along with macros. The device also offers on-the-fly macro recording, which should come in handy for fans of massively multiplayer online games.
If you’ve never played your PC games with a macro pad or gaming keypad like this before, you’re missing out. It adds a whole other level of precision and capabilities in your games thanks to the large collection of macro keys. If you’re unfamiliar with macro keys, they’re basically just customizable keys that allow for one or a series of actions in a game with a single keypress.
Thanks to Razer Tartarus Pro highly customizable options through its peripheral software, you can set up plenty of stuff and have specific profiles for each game. The Tartarus Pro is Razer’s latest gaming keypad, featuring 32 programmable keys, which means endless possibilities when you pair it with a mouse that has programmable buttons as well.

There are some more options, you may need to explore more. Just have some confidence within you that everyone goes through the first-time buying phase.
Many experts argue over this, some say that your first best laptop for gaming should be an ultimate beast, you only should use it with care and then stick to it for years to come. (This way you are future-proof and won’t have to buy another one soon.)
Others argue over this and they recommend going for an average level gaming laptop for now and once you are good to go, then you should invest a really good amount for buying high-end gaming laptops.
Personally, the second option is better because you can always change your mind and have a second chance to go for another brand or some other form factor. Happy shopping and gaming!
