‘The Persistence‘ is a game that was able to show you what it feels to be in the year 2521 and being hunted by creepy, disturbing monsters everywhere you go.
The game is a first-person shooter and has a lot of roguelike/RPG elements. The problem was that a lot of people couldn’t enjoy the game on their favorite platform as the game was a PS exclusive and was only playable through VR but not anymore, as the developers decided the game deserved a much larger audience.
The Persistence will now be coming to your favorite platforms, which will include the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and the portable console Nintendo Switch. According to Firesprite Games (the game’s developer), The Persistence will be coming this summer, as shown in the announcement trailer below.
The gameplay is sure to bring the same bone-chilling tension and the rough like gameplay it was famous for. Moreover, the game had a lot of elements similar to the Dead Space series, which is also the reason The Persistence was perceived as Dead Space’s spiritual successor. The only reason a lot of people couldn’t get to enjoy the game was that it was exclusive to PlayStation VR.
The game has an emphasis on gameplay a lot more than its story. The gameplay involves you roaming procedurally generated environments that change a bit every time you die. Dying takes away all your weapons but lets you keep your resources and upgrades, making you stronger every time you come back from death. A vast arsenal of weapons and gadgets are at your disposal, and each of them has its purpose. The game can be played stealthily or aggressively, whichever suits your playstyle.
As stated earlier, the game takes place in the year 2521. The main task of the game involves players with the mission to bring a vessel back to Earth, which is lost to deformed and violent monsters. The game was considered among the best exclusives for the PS4 because it was able to create a tense atmosphere by merging two different genres that generally don’t go together, roguelike and survival horror. Additionally, the game also had an option for co-op, which allowed the other player to play through a companion app by either assisting or preventing progression, quite similar to what WatchDogs had with its ctOS app.
This new release comes with its own set of treats as it has a “Tailored” UI and changed controls. Moreover, there will be improved post-processing effects, and the environments this time will have added detail.
They are releasing on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One sometime this summer, physically and digitally. Steam will have the game for PC, as well as the Oculus Store. There will be additional support for Oculus Rift, Rift S, HTC Vive, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. People who own the PSVR version will get the non-VR version free of charge.
